For millions of drivers of sedans, coupes, minivans, and SUVs, touring tires are a popular choice, and for good reason. Touring tires offer the year-round traction of an all-season tire along with a quiet, luxurious ride, long treadwear, good straight-line stability on long interstate drives and great handling and road manners.

The Continental ContiProContact definitely checks all those boxes and more. We’ve long been impressed with products from Continental – they’re a tire maker who consistently delivers innovation, quality, performance and great engineering and build quality, and the ContiProContact is no exception.

But is this the right tire for you and your ride? Let’s take a look in this Continental ContiProContact review.

    Features and Benefits

As a touring tire, the ContiProContact needs to offer drivers year-round performance and excellent ride comfort. Here’s how it does that:

    • Broad, deep circumferential grooves evacuate water from the tire’s contact patch in wet weather, augmenting traction and helping to resist hydroplaning
    • Stable shoulder lug design enhances steering response, handling, and road manners
    • Advanced tread formulation is designed for long, even wear and wet-weather traction by repelling water from the tread area
    • PROActive tread technology puts 800 arched edges into the tread design for extra contact area and traction while keeping road noise to a minimum
    • Twin steel belts with spiral wrapped nylon layer for durability and highway-speed stability
    • Backed by an 80,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty for S- and T-rated sizes, 60,000 mile limited warranty for H-rated sizes, and, 40,000 mile limited warranty for V- and W-rated sizes
    • Select sizes feature fun-flat technology with SSR self-supporting sidewall and ContiSeal inner layer for self-sealing of punctures, eliminating the need to carry a spare tire
    • Wide range of sizes from 15” to 19”, for a variety of vehicle fitments

    Pros and Cons

Like most tires from Continental, the ContiProContact has a longer list of pros than cons:

    Pros:

    • Excellent mileage warranty and service life
    • Great traction and handling in wet or dry weather
    • Low road noise
    • Forgiving ride
    • Advanced run-flat design on select sizes

    Cons:

    • A little pricier than the competition
    • Performance is only average in winter weather

SimpleTire’s view on Continental ContiProContact tires

In our estimation, the Continental ContiProContact represents state-of-the-art design and performance in a modern touring tire. Especially for high-end sedans, coupes, and crossovers, the ContiProContact is just about everything a driver could hope for. Its handling properties might not be as responsive as an ultra-high-performance tire, but it’s predictable and nimble and its wet- or dry-weather traction means you’ve got a tire you can count on for safety and peace of mind. Top that off with a generous treadwear warranty and run-flat design and you’ve got a really fine option in an all-season touring tire.

Mercedes S550 owner, excellent all around, when you use these tires be certain and fill the tires according to the tire pressure and not what's posted on your vehicle especially if it a performance auto.
