Ratings & Reviews

Sailun Terramax A/T 4S

We love these tires! We have only had these on our Ford 150 for a couple of months now, but have already noticed a positive difference when driving on wet roads. The traction is incredible, making me feel much safer when driving in wet conditions. Already excited to see how they handle in the snow this winter, in Maine.

This is an initial review for the 285/70R17 Terramax A/T 4s tires on a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab with the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel with 201K+ miles on the odometer. The tires were installed on 11 Oct 2019. My initial impression as soon as I got on the road was a noticeable difference from the BFG Rugged Trail T/A tires that came with the truck (been through 3 sets). The Terramax tires have a much softer tread compound and appear to be quieter; however, the BFGs weren't loud either. The most significant difference was how they handled on dirt roads. The Terramax tires made the truck feel like it had a different suspension. For over 200K miles, I've accepted a rough ride on dirt roads/rough roads in general. The Terramax tires changed that notion. Going down bumpy dirt roads was not nearly as harsh with the old tires. These tires will see heavy loads as I start towing my 18K Toy Hauler, so they do have a lot to live up against compared to the BFG tires they replaced. With the first two sets of BFG tires, I was able to get 75K mostly highway miles out of them, with tread left. The third set was replaced at about 50K miles only because one tire got a stud right in the center. Between tread life, towing, and cruising backcountry roads, these tires will be put to the test. I'll be happy if they exceed 50K miles. I'll update this review (or add a new review if unable) once winter hits, and it rains again to test the wet handling and snow traction of these tires.
Hands down the best of the best at the price point. I purchased these for a 2001 Mazda Tribute (Same as a Ford Escape or Mercury Mariner). Size 235/70R16. I used to go for tires from good names like Falken, Bridgestone, etc. However, these are just as good, $40 or more less per tire. So let's keep this quick and clean: They are 3PMS rated so they are classed to be used in severe snow service. The tread is very, very soft which makes for almost no noise while driving and a very, very smooth riding tire. They are virtually noiseless as well on the road, the engine and exhaust are louder than the tires. They handle exceptionally well except for the fact that the sidewall has a LOT of flex to it. This is great for pothole resistance as it can flex almost flat and still not tear, however, while cornering these tires do flex quite a lot and give an uncertain feel. However, this is only at higher speeds around sharper turns, which you shouldn't being doing in a midsize SUV on a tire with a side-wall ratio of 70. Drive like a normal person and you won't notice a thing. Wet traction is great, so is dry. A good set of brakes and a proper allignment will make these tires stop and wear exceptionally well. Dry traction is also great, no complaints whatsoever under harsh braking. In colder climates, these tires will perform well as they are rated to stay soft to -7 degrees (This is defined by the 3PMS symbol). Snow traction I cannot say first hand as I haven't had them in any actual snow, but I can tell you they'll be fine by how soft the tread is, and that the tread blocks are stepped, plus there is decent micro-siping throughout the tire, all around a very good tire for winter use.
