Michelin Primacy MXM4 Tire Review

One of the biggest names in the tire industry, Michelin Group is a global company that’s headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Operating for over 130 years, Michelin provides tires to over 170 countries and manufactures their tires locally to meet that area’s road conditions and demand in one of its 69 production facilities around the world. Michelin offers various tire lineups including the Primacy MXM4, which is one of the best all-season touring tires for premium cars. But what exactly makes the tire one of the best in the industry? Fortunately, SimpleTire is here to help with a Michelin Primacy MXM4 tire review.

Features and Benefits

All-season tires provide reliable performance throughout the year in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions. To deliver on this promise, the Primacy MXM4 relies on four major innovations that include:

Sunflower Oil Helio Technology, which involves the presence of sunflower seed oil in the rubber to improve stickiness and elasticity in wet conditions without compromising on traction on dry roads. Filament At Zero Degrees Technology in which nylon filaments inside the tread design at a zero-degree angle help the tire retain its original shape while enhancing steering precision. 3D Variable Thickness Sipe Technology that improves the grip of tires on snow-laden and wet roads. Comfort Control Technology that ensures a comfortable riding experience by reducing the vibrations on the road while maintaining constant road contact.

Apart from that, Michelin Primacy MXM4 is backed by a 45,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty of W-speed related sizes and a 55,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty for H- and V-speed rated sizes.

Durability is important for an all-season tire to ensure long-lasting performance for your vehicle. With that in mind, the Primacy MXM4 is powered with Michelin’s “Max Touch Construction” that promotes even treadwear by evenly distributing the forces of braking, acceleration, and cornering across the tread area. This promised durability is the primary reason that performance vehicles such as the Mercedes Benz E-Class, Buick LaCrosse, and Infiniti M choose Primacy MXM4 as their standard tire.

Pros and Cons

Now that you know what the Primacy MXM4 tire does, you might be wondering if it makes sense for you. Here are a few reasons why you should consider the Michelin Primacy MXM4:

Primacy MXM4 is an all-season tire that provides reliable performance throughout the year for premium cars such as Buick Verano, BMW 7-series, and Mercedes-Benz C, E, and S-class The Primacy MXM4 comes with a Green-X certification for fuel efficiency, which means it’s designed to help drivers go longer between needing to fill-up their gas tank Sunflower Oil Helio Technology ensures excellent grip on wet surfaces H-, V-, and W-speed ratings mean the tire can confidently perform at higher speeds Backed by at least a 45,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty

Unfortunately, no tire is perfect and the Primacy MXM4 is no different. While there are plenty of strengths for the tire, there are some negatives: Primacy MXM4 is an all-season tire and is not suited for rough terrains. While the tire provides excellent performance on paved roads, it is not well-suited for off-road driving. Price, as the Primacy MXM4 starts at just below $200 per tire. The set of four will cost around $800 before taxes, and that’s not including installation charges.

SimpleTire’s view on Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires

If you are looking for a new set of all-season tires, then there are not many more reliable options than Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires. While slightly more expensive than competitors like Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season and Continental ProContact GX, the Primacy MXM4 can last years for a driver who wants a smooth and comfortable driving experience. If you are looking for a tire that can provide you excellent control over dry and wet road conditions, Michelin Primacy MXM4 is a good bet for you.

I purchased my 2016 Nissan Altima from Palm Springs Nissan and finally this year 2020, I replaced the tires (Mich.Primacy MXV4). Got over 85000 miles on them. Love the way these tires handle the road, I drive the freeway a lot. They do good in the SO-CAL extreme heat conditions. I purchased a Maximum and now replacing tires with Michelin Primacy. Cant wait to enjoy the ride!
