The Michelin Primacy XC is a light truck tire designed with inputs from the world’s leading truck makers, and it offers class-leading levels of off-road and on-road capabilities. The tire features a completely new tread design to provide a 4x4 truck with the ideal appearance, and it also offers a great combination of high fuel efficiency and comfort. The addition of a healthy tread wear warranty makes this an unbeatable tire, and so you must keep reading this Michelin Primacy XC review for more information.

Features and Benefits

The Michelin Total Performance philosophy is responsible for a high Michelin Primacy XC rating, showing that the light truck tire is meant for the greatest levels of durability, fuel efficiency, safety, and performance. Keep in mind that the tire features mild all-terrain capabilities and does not come with Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification as it is primarily meant for comfort. Given below are Michelin Primacy XC’s features and benefits:

  • Low noise and vibrations - Comfort Control Technology is used here to decrease road noise and vibrations for a comfortable and silent ride.
  • High fuel economy - A new tread design here reduces the rolling resistance to enhance fuel economy.
  • Available warranty - You’ll get a 55,000 mile limited manufacturer warranty on T-rated sizes and a 40,000 mile limited manufacturer warranty on R-rated sizes. The warranties are further backed by Michelin’s Promise Plan. details of which are available on the Simple Tire website.
  • Strong braking performance - The tire has been designed to brake quickly in various dry, wet, and light winter conditions.
  • Excellent dry and wet traction - Expect tremendous dry and wet traction from these tires throughout the year.

Pros and Cons

Michelin is well known all over the world for high quality tires and excellent performance, with the features being applicable to both cars and trucks. It has a massive product portfolio and is popular all over the world. Michelin Primacy XC is available with the following pros and cons:

  • Comfortable and quiet
  • Backed by a 40,000 or 50,000 mile limited manufacturer warranty depending on the tire’s speed rating
  • Durable and tough
  • Excellent fuel economy
  • Long tread wear
  • Rugged appearance that matches the truck

  • Low all-terrain capability
  • More expensive than some competitor’s tires
  • Not the best in moderate to severe winter weather conditions

SimpleTire’s view on Michelin Primacy XC tires

Few tires look as good as they perform, but the Michelin Primacy XC is one of the rare examples of a tire that can do both. During the Michelin Primacy XC tire review, we found the ride to be very quiet, and the tires displayed an excellent ability to brake within short distances. The combination of all-season versatility and light off-roading ability ensures you can cross a few trails and bad patches without worrying about the tires. Comfort Control Technology on these tires makes use of precision manufacturing and a computer-optimized design for a very smooth ride. High fuel efficiency and limited manufacturer warranties (55,000 miles on T-rated sizes and 40,000 miles on R-rated sizes) are responsible for tremendous ownership satisfaction. Of course, it may be more expensive than tires like Cooper Endeavor Plus and Nitto Crosstek 2, but not without better features and more comprehensive warranty.

Vehicles the Michelin Primacy XC is an OEM tire for

Although primarily a light truck tire, Michelin Primacy XC can also be used on SUVs, CUVs, and vans (light and medium duty). The latest tread compounds have been used for low rolling resistance here. Take a look at the vehicles on which these tires are available as OEM fitments:

  • Ford F-150
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • Ford Expedition
  • Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

Vehicles the Michelin Primacy XC is a good replacement tire for

If you’re the type who largely uses the light truck or SUV on regular roads and lesser on trails, then Michelin Primacy XC is for you. There’ll be no need to buy other types of tires throughout the year and the above can fit as replacement tires on the following vehicles:

  • Toyota Sequoia
  • Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
  • Ford Ranger
  • Lincoln Navigator
  • GMC Canyon
  • Nissan Titan
  • RAM 1500
  • Dodge Durango

Michelin tires do not disappoint. Excessive price usually keeps me away from these tires but I got a great deal. If you can afford them, they are some of the best. But when you can almost get 2 other tires for the price of 1 michelin and end up with longer life, not sure they are worth the high price. I can not speak to tread life since i've only had for about 4 months. Also, have not had any winter yet. These tires have performed well in all other aspects.

Can't provide info on tread life or winter traction. Too early. Software forced me to rate. However, all else is very good.

Very quiet ride, excellent handling in dry and wet conditions. Haven't had any snow to drive in and only have had them installed on my truck six weeks so no history on thread wear. So far extremely happy with the performance.

These are by far the best tires I've ever owned! Much better than the Good Year SRA tires that were from the factory!
