Trek Tire LLC Recalls Passenger Tires Affecting United States
It has come to SimpleTire's attention that Trek Tire LLC (Trek Tire) has issued a recall on the following tires:
Dunlop GrandTrek PT3A
The following statement was released on October 19, 2017:
Trek Tire LLC (Trek Tire) is recalling certain Dunlop GrandTrek PT3A tires, sizes 275/50R21, manufactured between December 1, 2016 and December 7, 2016, which fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safaety Standard (FMVSS) number 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles." The affected tires lack the complete DOT identification markig prefix for radial tires and light vehicles. The lack of complete DOT identification markings can lead to inappropriate use of the tires, possibly increasing the risk of a crash. Dealer Tire LLC will notify owners and noncompliant tires will be replaced free of charge.
The recall is expected to begin October 2017.
SimpleTire urges anyone who has purchased these tires in the last few years to please check the production dates on the sidewall of the tires. The DOT Code is easily identified with a small oval circling four numbers. If the tires you purchased fall within the recall dates, owners may contact Trek Tire at 1-207-200-6967.
