Sumitomo Rubber USA, LLC (Sumitomo) Recalls Certain Tires Affecting United States
It has come to SimpleTire's attention that Sumitomo Rubber USA, LLC (Sumitomo) has issued a recall on the following tires:
The following statement was released on January 3, 2018:
Sumitomo Rubber USA, LLC (Sumitomo) is recalling certain Kelly Armorsteel KDA tires, size 11R22.5 Load Range G, manufactured December 4, 2016, to December 17, 2016. The tires do not have the tire size, maximum load rate, speed restriction, number of plies, the word "tubeless" and the load range information marked on both sidewalls. As, such these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires-Other Than Passenger Cars."
The recall is expected to begin in March 2018. Sumitomo will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, replace the tires, free of charge.
SimpleTire urges anyone who has purchased these tires in the last few years to please check the production dates on the sidewall of the tires. The DOT Code is easily identified with a small oval circling four numbers. Owners may contact Sumitomo customer assistance at 1-800-592-3267.
