Classic Car Communities on FB

One of the great things about Facebook is the way it can bring communities of people together. Regardless of whether you’re interested in heavy metal music, politics, certain movies, certain authors, or if you want to reunite online with people from your hometown, FB has great resources to form these little tribes of people and let them share ideas, opinions and reminisces with each other. For classic car enthusiasts, here are three fantastic little communities:

  • Classic Cars: Ford, Dodge, Pontiac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile…regardless of what your preference is, you can find it here. FB’s Classic Cars page doesn’t go into the tech detail that many forums and brand-specific sites do; instead, it’s more of a way to connect with fellow enthusiasts and enjoy these classic muscle cars. And it’s not just classics…today’s muscle cars get their due as well, along with offbeat makes and models like the ’71 Riviera, the Mercedes 450SL and even the Aston Martin DB4.

  • Classic American Muscle Cars: With over 113,000 likes, this is one of the biggest muscle car pages on Facebook. Like the name implies, it keeps its focus on GM, Ford, Chrysler and AMC makes, mainly from the pre-’75 era. Big cars, big engines, and not much time for imports and sports/tuner cars on this page!

  • American Horsepower: Those big-cubic-inch engines of the 60s and early 70s featured plenty of engineering innovations to build horsepower and torque, and that’s the focus of this page. Not surprisingly, much of this FB page is devoted to extreme horsepower applications for drag racing and other competition. Be sure to check out the link to the tiny V8 Nitro Engine, a working scale model of a hotrod V8 that had to require some insane machinist skills to design, mill and assemble.
