Best All-Season Tires for Your SUV

A big reason why SUVs have become so popular is their versatility, especially in cold climates – even if your SUV never leaves the pavement, it’s pretty handy to have that traction when things get snowy. There are plenty of all-season tire options out there for SUVs, but we took the time to pull together some of our favorites for you:

·       Michelin LTX M/S2Michelin’s LTX M/S2 is designed with Michelin’s long-wearing, all-season silica-enhanced tread compound, with Michelin’s MaxTouch construction. The rubber compound is molded into a symmetric tread design with stable independent tread blocks and high-density 3-D Active Sipes for all-season traction. Four wide channels, multiple lateral grooves and open slots at the shoulders help move water away from the tire’s contact patch. Internally, the LTX M/S2 features twin steel belts (three steel belts in Load Range D and Load Range E sizes).

·       General Grabber HTS We like the Grabber HTS for its Eco-Ride tread compound, designed by General for low rolling resistance and enhanced fuel economy. General Tire’s Stabilink system provides connecting bars through the tread for extra stability in braking, acceleration and cornering. The Response Grooves are designed for improved steering, with channels to move water away from the tread contact patch in wet weather. Internally, the General Grabber HTS is built with twin high-tensile-strength steel belts, with an internal cushioning system to suppress shocks and vibrations.

·       Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S – The Geolandar H/T-S is available with three different tread patterns and three different internal construction designs, tuned for your particular driving style and needs. The Geolandar H/T-S can be a good fit for light-duty on-road driving, drivers of pickups who occasionally haul heavy loads, or drivers who want a rugged, great-looking tire. All tires feature Yokohama’s innovative rubber compound and a symmetric tread design for all-season traction.

·       Firestone Destination A/T This longtime favorite from Firestone features their UNI-T technology; a comprehensive suite of innovations that enhance tire comfort, service life and performance. The Destination A/T uses Firestone’s Long Link Carbon tread compound for wet performance and cut/tear resistance off-road, with a symmetric pattern and continuous center rib. Circumferential grooves, lateral notches and sipes add to wet-weather traction, with twin steel belts and a polyester cord body for even tread wear, smooth ride and a long service life.
